We’re proud to share this highlight from JEC World, where Mitchell Smith, Vice President at ST Engineering MRAS, joined an expert panel for the session “Composites Take Flight: The Race for High-Volume Aerospace”.

As the aerospace industry pivots towards high-rate production for narrowbody aircraft and advanced air mobility platforms, the pressure is on for composite suppliers to scale, innovate, and secure their role in the future supply chain. Mitch joined senior leaders from Airbus, Boeing, FACC, and NASA to explore the latest technologies, strategies, and collaborative programs accelerating this transformation.

Key discussions included:

  • The Multifunctional Fuselage Demonstrator (MFFD) by Airbus.
HiCAM – NASA and Boeing’s collaborative program on high-rate composite manufacturing.
Material and process innovations from FACC driving efficiency in production.

Mitch brought ST Engineering MRAS’s perspective on:

  • The need for digital integration and automation.
  • Scaling composite production with agility.
  • Collaborating globally to meet the demands of tomorrow’s aircraft.

Moderated by Marc Fette, CEO of Composite Technology Center (an Airbus company), this panel brought together deep technical insights and forward-thinking strategies from across the industry.
